  • ½ cup of coconut oil
  • ¼ cup of glycerin
  • 10 drops of essential oil (optional)

Instructions

  • Fill a medium-sized pot with about 1 inch of water and place it on the stove over medium heat.
  • In a heatproof mixing bowl, combine the shea butter and coconut oil. Place the bowl over the pot of simmering water (double boiler method) and stir until the ingredients are fully melted.
  • Remove the bowl from the heat and add the glycerin and essential oil (if using) to the mixture. Stir well.
  • Allow the mixture to cool for about 10 minutes.
  • Once the mixture has cooled slightly, use a whisk to whip it for about 2-3 minutes until it becomes light and fluffy.
  • Transfer the whipped body butter to a glass jar and let it cool for at least 2 hours before using.

Notes

  • Be sure to use a double boiler method to melt the shea butter and coconut oil to prevent burning.
  • If the mixture starts to solidify while whipping, place the bowl back over the double boiler for a few seconds to soften it again.
  • Feel free to add your favorite essential oil for added fragrance and benefits.

How to Use

  1. After showering or bathing, apply a small amount of the body butter to your damp skin and massage in.
