In this blog post, we will share a recipe for homemade vegan sunscreen that is easy to make and effective in protecting your skin.

Equipment

  • Double boiler or heat-proof bowl and saucepan
  • Whisk or spoon
  • Container with a lid for storage

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons of shea butter
  • 1 tablespoon of zinc oxide powder
  • 1 teaspoon of vitamin E oil
  • 10-15 drops of essential oil (optional)

Instructions
 

  • In a double boiler or heat-proof bowl and saucepan, melt the coconut oil and shea butter over low heat.
  • Once the oils have melted, remove from heat and whisk in the zinc oxide powder.
  • Add in the vitamin E oil and essential oil (if using) and mix well.
  • Allow the mixture to cool for 2 hours, or until it has hardened.
  • Once cooled, store in a container with a lid for use.

Notes

  • Make sure to use non-nano zinc oxide powder for best sun protection.
  • The essential oil is added for its fragrance, but it can also add other benefits to your skin.
