If you’re looking for an inexpensive, natural way to keep your skin hydrated, cucumber eye cream is your new best friend.
This recipe will not only help reduce the puffiness under your eyes but also soothe and tighten them.
Cucumber eye cream can be made with just two ingredients—cucumbers and vitamin E oil—so it’s perfect for those who are sensitive to scents or have allergies.
Plus, this DIY project is fun and easy! Now that I’ve shared my favorite DIY beauty hacks with you, let me know which ones are your favorites in the comments section below!
1. Blend a cucumber until it becomes a paste
Cucumber is a great ingredient to use in an eye cream because it has a lot of benefits for the skin.
Cucumber contains vitamin A and alpha hydroxy acids, which help to reduce under-eye puffiness and improve skin texture.
It can also be used as an exfoliator on dry or flaky areas of the face.
To make cucumber paste, you can either blend some fresh cucumbers in a blender or food processor until it becomes mushy (like making guacamole) or grate them instead if you don’t have access to either appliance.
If you do not have access to these appliances but still want to make this recipe, try grating your own cucumbers with a cheese grater as well!
2. Place the cucumber paste into an airtight container
Place the cucumber paste into an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours.
Refrigeration is important for keeping the cucumber fresh, as well as preserving its healing properties.
3. Scoop out the cucumber paste and separate it
Since you’re already measuring the water, why not use it to measure out your cucumber paste?
Scoop out two equal portions of cucumber paste and place them in separate bowls.
If you’d like to be precise about this, use a tablespoon or a measuring cup instead of a spoon to scoop out the cucumber paste.
Then, divide one portion evenly between each bowl of water so that there are two equal parts of it floating on top of each bowl.
4. Add vitamin E to each portion and mix
Vitamin E is a natural antioxidant, which means it helps to reduce inflammation and increase skin elasticity.
In addition, vitamin E works to prevent fine lines and wrinkles.
This ingredient can be added to any homemade eye cream recipe for the benefits of reducing dark circles, preventing dryness around the eyes, or improving overall skin tone.
5. Apply the eye cream
Apply one portion of the eye cream gently under each eye with your fingertips.
6. Gently dab at the area surrounding your eyes
Gently dab at the area surrounding your eyes to spread the product evenly.
Don’t rub it in, as this will cause irritation!
DIY eye cream is easy to make, fun, and effective!
It’s also a great way for you to use up any leftover cucumbers in your fridge.
If you don’t have access to cucumber but still want an effective homemade eye cream, consider using aloe vera instead.
