Is Juice Beauty Organic?

6 Mins read

Juice Beauty has a lot of organic products, but is it organic all the way through?

We do an in-depth review and find out what we can.

Is Juice Beauty Organic?

Juice Beauty is USDA-certified organic. Juice Beauty products are made with over 70% certified organic ingredients, upon a total organic base.

The Juice Beauty product line uses no petroleum-based ingredients or artificial dyes or synthetic fragrances which may be harmful to your skin and overall health.

This includes the use of no parabens, petroleum, propylene or butylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulfates, pesticides, phthalates, artificial dyes, or synthetic fragrances in any of our products.

How to Recycle the Aluminum Tubes and Compacts From Juice Beauty Products

Juice Beauty is committed to using sustainable and environmentally sound packaging.

The aluminum tubes and compacts for our Juice Beauty products are 100% recyclable, but we understand some people may not know how to recycle them.

Here is a quick guide that you can use:

  • Research your local recycling program. You will want to check with your waste management company about their specific program for accepting aluminum. If you’re not sure where to begin, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has a search function on its website that allows you to find recycling opportunities in your community.
  • Rinse and dry out the containers before putting them in the recycling bin with other clean recyclables like glass bottles, plastic water bottles, and soda cans—or add them to any existing recycling if you already recycle those items at home!
  • Be sure to take off any labels or stickers on the container before cleaning it out and putting it into the bin!

What Are the Key Ingredients in Juice Beauty Products?

While many Juice Beauty products are made with organic ingredients, they may not be 100% organic.

For example, the Green Apple Peel Full Strength features organic apple juice, organic aloe juice, and grape juice along with some specific non-organic ingredients.

The ingredients that aren’t organic include ascorbyl palmitate, citric acid, and sodium benzoate.

In addition to the green apple peel full strength option, Juice Beauty also offers a Green Apple Peel Sensitive that’s made up of mostly non-organic ingredients such as xanthan gum and phenoxyethanol in addition to the three non-organic options listed above.

Although many of the products have preservatives in them that aren’t always organic, there are some key ingredients used in Juice Beauty products that are natural and certified USDA Organic. Some of these include:

  • Organic apple juice
  • Organic aloe juice
  • Grape (and white) juice
  • Lemon juice
  • Orange juice
  • Cranberry juice
  • Jojoba oil (from a desert shrub)
  • Sunflower seed oil
  • Shea butter (from nuts grown on trees native to Africa)
  • Olive oil
  • Avocado oil

Does Juice Beauty Test on Animals?

Juice Beauty does not test on animals and does not authorize others to do so either, which is a huge relief when you consider the number of popular beauty brands that continue to conduct animal testing in order to earn a profit.

The brand is also strictly against animal testing by third parties.

Juice Beauty’s policy states that it “does not allow its products and ingredients to be tested on animals of any kind” and that they also “do not permit or condone our third-party partners, suppliers or vendors to use animal testing on any product or ingredient.”

Are Juice Beauty Products Vegan?

Vegan products contain no animal ingredients. Juice Beauty uses honey in some of its products, so they are not vegan.

However, all but one of Juice Beauty’s products are vegetarian. This means they don’t contain any meat or meat by-products (such as gelatine).

Juice Beauty is cruelty-free meaning that none of its products have been tested on animals at any point in the production process.

Is Juice Beauty Gluten-free?

Juice Beauty products do not include any gluten-containing ingredients, they are not tested on individuals who have gluten allergies or sensitivities, but their products and facilities are not certified as gluten-free.

Whether this is important to you depends on your personal preferences around what qualifies as a product that is “gluten-free”.

Does Juice Beauty Work for Acne-prone Skin?

Juice Beauty products are recommended by the EWG (Environmental Working Group) as some of the best skincare products on the market because they contain minimal amounts of toxic ingredients.

Juice Beauty’s organic formulas have naturally-derived ingredients that can be very beneficial for acne-prone skin.

These formulas are gentle and do not contain harsh chemicals and toxins that may irritate your skin and exacerbate acne.

It’s important to note, however, that there is no acne cure in a bottle and since everyone has unique skin, it is essential to evaluate whether a product works for you individually by trying it yourself.

Juice Beauty has a full range of products that are safe for use during pregnancy and while nursing.

The products are formulated without known toxins, artificial ingredients, parabens, petroleum, and other harmful ingredients.

However, we always recommend consulting your doctor first before using any new products.

How Does Juice Beauty Support the Environment and Sustainability?

Here is a rundown of Juice Beauty’s environmental and sustainability objectives.

Environment

Juice Beauty is dedicated to reducing its environmental impact by using packaging made from recycled materials and using renewable energy sources.

Also, every year the company plants 5,000 trees to help offset carbon emissions.

Juice Beauty also supports various eco-friendly initiatives like 1% for the Planet and TerraCycle.

Sustainability

Juice Beauty believes in sustainable farming practices that take care of our land so we can harvest crops in an environmentally friendly way now and into the future!

They only use organic ingredients because they’re healthier for us and our planet!

Did you know that non-organic practices release harmful pesticides into our soil and waterways?

These chemicals can endanger wildlife, contaminate water supplies and destroy habitats—and they’re just not good for you or your skin!

Organic farming actually improves soil quality by replenishing nutrients naturally so farmers don’t have to use synthetic fertilizers that harm plants, people, or animals.

Plus organic farming doesn’t add pollutants to groundwater or expose farmers and farmworkers to toxic chemicals!

Juice Beauty believes we all deserve organic skincare products that won’t harm our skin or the environment–but it’s not easy to find them sometimes!

That’s why they make your life easier when it comes to finding high-performance makeup & skincare products at an affordable price point with certifiable organic ingredients!

Does Juice Beauty Use Parabens and Other Preservatives in Their Products?

Since Juice Beauty uses organic ingredients, they have to use preservatives in their products. In most cases, they are completely natural.

Other times, they are a combination of organic and synthetic ingredients. Juice Beauty does not use parabens in its products.

SEE ALSO:  What Are the Best Essential Oils to Use in Organic Beauty Products?

On the other hand, there are some synthetic preservatives that Juice Beauty does use in some of its products.

Take the following ingredients for example:

  • Phenoxyethanol – A natural alcohol derived from green tea and beneficial for its antioxidant properties.
  • Caprylyl Glycol – A natural glycol derived from coconuts and essential oils used by many natural brands as a skin-conditioning agent and emollient.

Both of these synthetic ingredients were rated safe by EWG’s Skin Deep Cosmetic Database for being widely used throughout the industry with no known toxicity concerns or health hazards; however, another ingredient called Potassium Sorbate was rated moderate hazard because it is a known skin irritant that can cause allergic reactions on contact with skin.

It is used in small amounts to help prevent bacteria growth and prolong product shelf life.

Does Juice Beauty Donate to Charity?

If you’re concerned about the ethics of Juice Beauty, it’s good to know that they support charities such as the Women’s Cancer Research Fund, Breast Cancer Fund, and Baby2Baby.

They also support sustainability and take steps towards sustainable practices.

In fact, they have developed a program where they replace standard plastic packaging in their products with glass and aluminum packaging. This material is easier to recycle than plastic.

Why Is Juice Beauty Phasing Out Plastic Packaging in Favor of Glass and Aluminum Packaging?

Juice Beauty is committed to being an environmentally friendly and sustainable brand.

They work hard to reduce our carbon footprint and have taken several steps toward becoming more sustainable, including phasing out plastic packaging in favor of glass and aluminum containers.

Specifically, Juice Beauty’s LEAPING BUNNY CERTIFIED natural skincare products are packaged in recyclable glass bottles with recyclable aluminum caps or pumps for most products.

Over the years, they’ve phased out plastic or PETE containers where possible and switched to glass packaging for the following reasons:

  • Glass containers preserve product integrity since they do not absorb or leach into the product contents.
  • Glass bottles are non-toxic and sustainably sourced so they can be recycled over and over again without losing quality — they can also be re-used around the house (think vases).

Final Thoughts

Juice Beauty has a whole line of natural products, with an emphasis on organic ingredients.

It goes beyond the USDA Organic certification to offer its customers an even higher level of transparency.

Consumers concerned about pesticides in their cosmetics will want to look into Juice Beauty’s safety assurances and check out the company website for more information.
