So, when is the best time to start wearing lipstick after a hyaluronic acid filler like Restylane® or Juvederm®?
Is it immediately after a filler treatment, several hours later, or even the next day?
In this article, I will explain what you need to know about getting ready for a lip makeover after hyaluronic acid treatment.
When can you wear lipstick after hyaluronic acid?
You can use your favorite lipstick as soon as you feel ready to put on any makeup.
Most women report that they can wear makeup within a few days of their injections.
However, if you have experienced swelling or bruising, you may want to wait until these symptoms subside before wearing any makeup.
To ensure that your lips look their best, we recommend waiting at least 3-4 weeks to allow for adequate healing.
In addition, we recommend avoiding anything that could irritate the area – including sun exposure, harsh products or chemicals (such as alcohol), and over-the-counter medications such as aspirin and ibuprofen (Advil).
If you experience any discomfort while using any of these items prior to the 3-4 week mark, please stop using them immediately and contact us immediately if there are any concerns or questions about your treatment plan.
What are the risks associated with hyaluronic acid injections?
There are no serious risks associated with hyaluronic acid injections, but there are some minor side effects that may occur.
Some patients experience slight swelling and/or bruising at the injection site for a few days after the procedure.
In rare cases, patients may experience a slight headache or rash.
If any of these symptoms persist longer than expected or become more severe, contact your plastic surgeon immediately.
These complications usually resolve on their own without treatment.
To get the most out of your skin care regimen, listen to your skin.
And for all you lipstick lovers, don’t skip your hyaluronic acid!
Just wait a few months until you’re completely healed and you will reap its benefits.
