Beef Tallow Sunscreen Recipe

This beef tallow sunscreen recipe is a natural and safe alternative to commercial sunscreens. It is easy to make, and can be customized to suit your needs. It is also great for babies and sensitive skin.

Equipment

  • Double boiler
  • Glass jar with a tight-fitting lid
  • Mixing spoon

Ingredients
  

  • ¼ cup beef tallow
  • ¼ cup coconut oil
  • ¼ cup beeswax
  • 1 tsp non-nano zinc oxide powder
  • 1 tsp vitamin E oil (optional)

Instructions
 

  • In a double boiler, melt the beef tallow, coconut oil, and beeswax together.
  • Once the oils are melted and combined, remove the mixture from heat and add in the zinc oxide powder and vitamin E oil. Stir well.
  • Pour the mixture into a glass jar and let it cool for 1 hour.
  • Once cooled, the sunscreen is ready to use!

Notes

  • The SPF of this sunscreen will depend on the amount of zinc oxide powder used. Adjust the amount to your desired SPF.
  • You can also add in other natural ingredients such as essential oils for added benefits.
  • If you have sensitive skin, you can reduce the amount of zinc oxide powder to decrease the SPF.
 

How to Use

 
  • Take a small amount of sunscreen and apply it evenly to all exposed skin.
  • Reapply every 2 hours or after swimming or sweating.
  • Use in combination with other sun protection methods such as wearing a hat and avoiding peak sun hours.
