Lactic acid is a gentle alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that can be used to exfoliate and brighten the skin. By creating your own lactic acid serum at home, you can customize the strength and ingredients to suit your specific skincare needs. This DIY recipe is easy to make and can be used to improve the texture and tone of your skin.

Equipment

  • Small glass bottle or container with dropper
  • Measuring spoons
  • Spoon or spatula

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tsp lactic acid powder
  • 1 tbsp aloe vera gel
  • 1 tsp witch hazel
  • 1 tsp vitamin E oil
  • 10 drops lavender essential oil (optional)

Instructions
 

  • In a small glass bottle or container, mix together the lactic acid powder, aloe vera gel, witch hazel, and vitamin E oil.
  • If desired, add in 10 drops of lavender essential oil for added benefits and fragrance.
  • Use a spoon or spatula to mix the ingredients together until well combined.
  • Allow the mixture to sit for 10 minutes to cool.
  • Once cooled, use the dropper to transfer the serum into a separate container for easy application.
  • Apply the serum to your face and neck after cleansing, avoiding the eye area.
  • Follow up with your regular skincare routine, including moisturizer and sunscreen.

  • Lactic acid can cause mild irritation or redness in some individuals. If this occurs, reduce the frequency of use or discontinue use.
