Coconut Oil Lip Gloss Recipe
Else Norregard
Coconut oil is a versatile ingredient that has a multitude of benefits, especially when it comes to skin care. Not only is it a natural moisturizer, but it also has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that help keep your lips healthy and hydrated. In this post, we'll show you how to make your own coconut oil lip gloss, which is a great alternative to store-bought lip gloss that may contain harsh chemicals.
Prep Time 30 minutes mins
Cooling time 1 hour hr
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon beeswax pellets
- 1 tablespoon sweet almond oil
- ½ teaspoon vitamin E oil
- 5-10 drops Lip-safe flavor oil or essential oil (optional)
In a small saucepan, heat the coconut oil, beeswax, and sweet almond oil over low heat until fully melted.
Remove from heat and stir in the vitamin E oil and flavor oil (if using).
Pour the mixture into the lip balm tubes or pots.
Let cool for 1 hour or until fully set.
Screw on the caps and label the lip gloss tubes or pots.
- You can use a microwave to melt the ingredients, but be sure to stir frequently to avoid overheating.
- If the mixture is too thick, you can add a few drops of sweet almond oil until you reach the desired consistency.
- You can use any lip-safe flavor oil or essential oil, such as peppermint, vanilla, or lavender, to give your lip gloss a subtle scent.
How to Use
- Apply a small amount of lip gloss to your lips as often as needed.
- Use a lip scrub once a week to exfoliate dead skin cells and reveal smoother, hydrated lips.
- Store the lip gloss in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
