Equipment

  • A mixing bowl
  • A hand mixer or stand mixer
  • A glass jar with a lid
  • A silicone spatula

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup of coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon of your favorite essential oil (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Start by melting the coconut oil in a mixing bowl.
  • Let the coconut oil cool for 10 minutes, then transfer it to the mixing bowl.
  • Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, beat the coconut oil for 5 minutes until it is light and fluffy.
  • If desired, add in 1 tablespoon of your favorite essential oil and continue to beat for another minute.
  • Transfer the whipped coconut oil to a glass jar and let it cool for 2 hours.
  • Once the whipped coconut oil has cooled and set, it is ready to use.

Notes

  • The whipped coconut oil will solidify in cold temperatures but will melt at room temperature.
  • Store the whipped coconut oil in a cool, dry place.
  • The shelf life of whipped coconut oil is 6-12 months.
 

How to Use

 
As a leave-in conditioner: Apply a small amount of whipped coconut oil to your hair and massage it in, focusing on the ends.
As a hot oil treatment: Heat up a small amount of whipped coconut oil and massage it into your hair, focusing on the roots. Wrap your hair in a warm towel and let it sit for 30 minutes before washing it out.
As a hair mask: Apply a generous amount of whipped coconut oil to your hair and massage it in. Cover your hair with a shower cap and let it sit for 30 minutes before washing it out.
