Else Norregard
Eczema is a skin condition that causes red, itchy, and inflamed patches. While there is no cure for eczema, there are ways to manage the symptoms and keep the skin hydrated. Coconut oil is a natural ingredient that is rich in antioxidants and fatty acids, making it an excellent moisturizer for eczema-prone skin. In this post, we'll be sharing a simple recipe for a coconut oil eczema cream that you can make at home.

Course Skin Care
Servings 4 oz

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk or spoon
  • Jar or container for storage

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon of beeswax pellets
  • 1 teaspoon of shea butter
  • 5-10 drops of tea tree oil (optional)

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the coconut oil, beeswax pellets, and shea butter.
  • Heat the mixture in the microwave for 20-30 seconds or on a double boiler until the ingredients have melted.
  • Stir in the tea tree oil (if using).
  • Pour the mixture into a jar or container and let it cool for 30 minutes.
  • Once the cream has solidified, give it a good stir.
  • Apply the cream to affected areas of skin as needed.

Notes

  • Coconut oil has a low melting point, so keep the cream stored in a cool place.
  • You can adjust the ratio of ingredients to suit your skin's needs. For example, you can add more beeswax for a thicker cream or more coconut oil for a lighter texture.
  • If you have sensitive skin, you may want to start with a smaller amount of tea tree oil and gradually increase it over time

How to Use

  • Cleanse your skin thoroughly.
  • Apply a small amount of the cream to affected areas of skin.
  • Massage the cream into your skin in a circular motion.
  • Repeat as needed, but avoid over-applying as this can lead to clogged pores.
